Creative Workshop

We invite you to take part in a workshop for composers and percussion ensemble!

VšĮ “Jazz Academy,“ in cooperation with the “Percussion Ukmergė 2025“ festival, invites ambitious composers to participate in a unique creative residency in Lithuania!

What we offer:

  • An inspiring environment: a 6-day residency where you will have the opportunity to create and develop your own work in collaboration with professional percussionists.
  • Free accommodation and meals in Kaunas and Ukmergė.
  • Free creative space for the creative process.
  • Covered travel expenses (residents are responsible for their own medical insurance).
  • Opportunity to present your works at concerts in Kaunas and Ukmergė.

Who can attend:

  • Age: up to 30 years
  • Instrumentation: four-piece percussion ensemble, without electronics (see below for list of instruments)
  • Number of applicants: 5 applicants will be selected.

What needs to be done:

  1. Send your application to daiva.jazz@gmail.com by 17 February. Your application must include:
    • Your Curriculum Vitae
    • Links to your previous musical works (sheet music, recordings)
    • A graphic sketch or an idea for a piece for a percussion ensemble that you would like to present during the residency.
  1. Awaiting the decision: the selection results will be announced on 20 February.
  2. Prepare the score: by 1 March, provide the musicians with a preliminary score or parts.

  • Gong (1)
  • Snare drum (4)
  • Piccolo snare drum (1)
  • 12” tom tom (4)
  • 13” tom tom (4)
  • 16” tom tom (4)
  • Bass drum (4)
  • 23” ride cymbal (1)
  • 22“ ride cymbal (1)
  • 20” ride cymbal (2)
  • 16” crash cymbal (2)
  • 14″ hi-hat cymbal and stand (4)
  • Pair of wooden claves (2)
  • Any type of small percussion (wooden blocks, metal blocks, triangle, various cans, etc.)

Duration of the residency: 6 days, 6-11 March 2025

Place of residence: Kaunas and Ukmergė.
